How do I split a PDF into separate files?

How do I split a PDF by page ranges?
Write the ranges separated by commas, for example 1-3,5,8-10: that produces three files, pages 1 to 3, page 5 alone and pages 8 to 10. Ranges may overlap, so the same page can appear in more than one output, and a range beyond the last page is rejected with a message showing the real page count. Check the page count first if you are unsure.
Can I split a PDF in half or every N pages?
For an even split, type the two ranges yourself, for example 1-10,11-20 for a 20-page file. To cut a long document every N pages, such as every 2 pages for double-sided scans, use Advanced Split and choose the every N pages mode; it names each part by its page range and returns a ZIP.
How do I split a PDF by file size?
Use Advanced Split, choose split by size and set the maximum size per part in MB, for example 5 MB for an email limit. Pages are added to each part until the next one would exceed the limit, and then a new part starts. A single page larger than the limit still becomes its own file, so compress the PDF first if the pages are heavy scans.
How do I extract just a few pages from a PDF?
If you want the chosen pages together in one new PDF rather than in separate files, use Extract Pages and list them, for example 2,5-7. Split PDF is the right choice when each range should become its own file. Both tools leave the original document untouched.
Is splitting a PDF free, and is there a page limit?

Will splitting a PDF remove its digital signature?
Yes. A certificate-based digital signature covers the whole original file, so the split parts are new documents and will not show as signed or verified. Keep the signed original if you need proof and share it alongside the extracted pages, or sign the pieces again after splitting.
Is it safe to split a confidential PDF online?
The file travels over HTTPS, is split on our servers and is deleted with the ZIP as soon as the job finishes. We never read, index or share documents, and nothing stays on our side after you download. If the parts are sensitive, protect them with Protect PDF before sending.
