Frequently asked questions

How do I sign a PDF online for free?

Upload the document to Sign PDF, type your name or the signature text you want to appear and press Run. The tool places a visible signature block on the page and returns the signed PDF in seconds. It is free for 3 files a day, with no account and no ads.

How do I sign a PDF on my iPhone or Android phone?

Open Sign PDF in your phone's browser, pick the PDF from your files, an email attachment or your cloud drive, type your signature and download the result. There is nothing to install and the page works with touch on any screen size. The signed file can be shared straight back by email or messaging.

Can I add my handwritten signature instead of typed text?

Yes. Type it in Sign PDF, or use a drawn or photographed signature saved as a PNG or JPG and place it with the Add Image tool, which lets you choose the page, corner, size and opacity. Both are visible signatures placed on the page, not certificate-based signatures.

Is this a digital signature with a certificate?

No. Sign PDF adds a visible electronic signature to the page; it does not embed a cryptographic certificate, so the viewer will not show a signed-and-verified panel. That is enough for everyday approvals, but if the recipient requires a certified or qualified electronic signature you need a certificate-based signing service.

Is a typed or drawn signature on a PDF legally valid?

Many countries accept a simple electronic signature for everyday agreements when both parties intend to sign, and contracts, forms and approvals are commonly signed this way. Some documents and some jurisdictions require a certificate-based signature, a witness or a specific format, so check what your recipient or local law requires; PDFMaster does not give legal advice. Keep the signed copy and the email trail as evidence of who signed and when.

Where does the signature appear on the page?

Sign PDF places the signature block in the bottom-right corner of the first page, in a clear black font on a white background. If it needs to go on another page or spot, place your signature image with Add Image and choose the page (for example the last one), the corner and the size.

Do I need an account to sign a PDF, and is there a limit?

No account, no email and no ads: open the tool, sign and download. Free use is 3 files a day per person, renewed every day, and the limit is shared across all PDFMaster tools; Premium covers heavier use, such as signing a batch of contracts.

Is my contract safe when I sign it online?

The file is uploaded over HTTPS, signed on our servers and deleted together with the result as soon as the job is done. We do not read, index or share documents, and no copy stays on our side once you download the signed PDF. For extra safety, run Protect PDF on the signed file before sending it.
